Dr. Lawrence Mauro
Born and raised in the Pittsburgh area, Dr. Mauro attended Washington and Jefferson College where he earned his B.A. in Biology. He went on to earn his D.M.D. in 2003 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. Following Dental School, Dr. Mauro completed a General Practice Residency at the VA Pittsburgh Health Care, where he was mentored by some of the most talented specialists in the region.
His drive to provide the best possible dental care to his patients is only matched by his commitment to continuing education. He completes over 80 hours of continuing dental education annually and has been awarded the prestigious “Fellowship Award” with the Academy of General Dentistry—an honor less than 1% of dentists nationwide achieve.
Dr. Mauro married his wife, Melissa, in 2003 and since then, have been blessed with five amazing daughters. They are very excited to raise their children in the North Hills with their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins nearby.
We employ some of the best and most experienced dental professionals in the Pittsburgh area, and pride ourselves on going above and beyond patient expectations to provide a comfortable, friendly, and caring experience during every visit.
Randall Barton, D.M.D, M.D.S.
Dr. Barton attended dental school at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated near the top of his class in 2000. His many achievements included: Dean’s List, recipient of the Addison H. Gibson Foundation Health Profession Award and the Student Achievement Award in Endodontics from the American Association of Endodontists. In 2000, he was also inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Barton continued his post-doctoral training in endodontics at the University of Pittsburgh where he received his MDS in 2002. Dr. Barton practiced endodontics in Westchester, NY for 15 years before moving back home to raise his children around family. Out of the office he enjoys playing guitar, weight training, skiing and SCUBA.
Chelsea Stein, D.M.D.
Dr. Stein was born and raised in Pittsburgh, and she attended the University of Michigan, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience. After completing her undergraduate studies, she earned her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, and completed a General Practice Residency in Brooklyn, NY. She recently returned to her hometown to join the North Hills Family Dental team, and continues to be an active member of the Academy of General Dentistry and American Dental Association.
She is committed to continuing education in order to remain knowledgeable about state-of-the-art technology, procedures and materials in dentistry, and her mission to provide patients with the highest quality of dental care in a comfortable and welcoming environment.
Outside of the practice, Dr. Stein enjoys traveling, swimming, and playing tennis.
Dr. Anna Nissen
Dr. Anna Nissen was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio. She continued her education at The Ohio State University, following in both of her parent’s footsteps—Dr. Nissen is a true Buckeye! While at The Ohio State University, Dr. Nissen earned her B.S. in Zoology, followed by her D.D.S. and graduated Magna Cum Laude at the top of her class.
Dr. Nissen was actively involved in The Association of Women Dentists as well as serving as President of The Oral Surgery Club during her time in dental school. She is currently a member of the Ohio Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Dr. Nissen loves providing excellent oral healthcare with a comforting and gentle touch.
In addition to her dental skillset, Dr. Nissen is a certified Botox and Filler provider and enjoys that she can provide her patients with a wide range of esthetic and functional treatments quickly, comfortably and with exceptional results.
Outside the office, Dr. Nissen and her fiancé, Nick, an infectious disease physician at UPMC, live in Pittsburgh with their Golden Retriever, Biscuit. Dr. Nissen is an avid Pure Barre enthusiast and loves to bake.
Manager of Operations
Lindsay grew up north of Pittsburgh, in Ford City, PA. She attended West Virginia University earning her Bachelor’s degree and graduate school at Bloomsburg University for Audiology. Prior to beginning her career in the dental field, Lindsay worked for six years in the Ear, Nose, and Throat field. She is beyond happy to have found the NHFD team and enjoys her part in helping patients achieve healthy smiles!
Lindsay lives in Allison Park with her fiancé Josh and their two dogs (Frank and Ophelia). In her spare time she enjoys gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. She loves giving back any way she can, whether it is by participating in a fundraiser or making a donation to a local animal shelter.
Michelle was born and raised in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. She has been working in the dental field with a focus on Dental Insurance plans for about ten years. Prior to working with dental plans, Michelle worked in the banking field for over 20 years.
In her spare time, Michelle enjoys cooking and baking for her family. She also enjoys long walks with her shepard mix, Lisbon!
Expanded Function Dental Assistant/Clinical Care Coordinator
Jessica was born in the Pittsburgh area but was raised in Charlotte, NC where she started her career in dentistry 15 years ago. She has since moved back to the area to be closer to her family. She currently resides just outside of Pittsburgh with her husband Greg. Jessica is passionate about the field of dentistry and enjoys making patients smile.
In her spare time, Jessica enjoys shopping, boating, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Dental Hygienist (RDH)
Hannah grew up in the North Hills and is a graduate of Shaler Area High School. Following high school, she began her studies in The University of Pittsburgh’s Dental Hygiene Program. She graduated from Pitt in 2011 with her dental hygiene certificate and a license in the administration of local anesthesia. Hannah feels privileged to work with such a caring and hardworking team at North Hills Family Dental. She loves her career choice as a dental hygienist and thoroughly enjoys watching a patient’s oral health change for the better. Hannah’s gentle manner and positive attitude keeps all of our patients feeling at ease in the dental chair.
Outside of the office, Hannah spends most of her time with her husband and their two dogs. She enjoys being outside and playing soccer. Hannah’s idea of a good night out would be heading down to PNC Park to cheer on the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Kallie was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and is a new resident to Pittsburgh from Houston, Texas. She received her Associate Degree in Applied Science for Dental Assisting at the University of Alaska Anchorage and since then has been working in the dental field for six years now. Kallie lives with her long-term boyfriend and rambunctious Australian lab, Gypsy. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring her surroundings, enjoying local foods, hiking, and attending sporting events.
Heather is originally from outside of Philadelphia and has been living in Pittsburgh for 6 years. Heather loves her job and works very hard to make her patients feel relaxed and comfortable during their dental appointments. In her spare time Heather enjoys practicing yoga and skiing. She loves going home every day to her 2 cats and husband. She also loves traveling and always has her next trip planned with either her husband, friends, or family.
Jessica is originally from eastern Pennsylvania and moved to the Pittsburgh area mid 2020. She graduated from Westmoreland County Community College and obtained her Hygiene and Local Anesthesia license in 2020 as well. Jessica enjoys interacting with patients and helping them reach their personal hygiene goals! Outside of work, you can usually find Jessica on the river boating during the summer. In her spare time she loves relaxing at home with her two cats, Jaxx and Jade.
Brooke joined our team in 2020 bringing her years of experience in scheduling, organizing, planning and coordination with great attention to detail. Brooke’s goal is to ensure both our patient’s and our team’s needs are met through encouragement and a kind word. She enjoys being a part of our team as we all work together, each doing our part to successfully and thoughtfully meet the needs of our patients.
Margo is from Eastern Pennsylvania and moved to the Pittsburgh area in 2019. She has been a dental hygienist for over 30 years. She received her dental hygiene degree from Northampton College, in Bethlehem, PA. Margo is also licensed to administer local anesthesia. She loves interacting with patients during their dental appointments. Margo lives in Cranberry and enjoys kayaking, hiking and travel with her husband and two children.
Patti was born and raised northeast of Pittsburgh, in West Leechburg. Prior to working as a Business Assistant, Patti worked in the medical field for over 20 years. In her spare time Patti enjoys lifting weights, snow skiing, cooking, and spending time with her family and pets.
Nicole was born and raised in Pittsburgh. she attended North Hills High school. She has been working in the dental field for 8 years. She is cross trained as a business assistant and dental assistant.
In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, son and two dogs.
Hannah was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to Pittsburgh in 2008 to attend the University of Pittsburgh. After undergrad, Hannah worked for 4 years in sales and management for a paint company. In 2016, Hannah realized her passion was in dentistry and she returned to Pitt to receive her degree in Dental Hygiene. She is very pleased with her decision to change her career path, and absolutely loves being a dental hygienist. Hannah’s favorite part of her job is getting to interact with her patients and making an impact on their lives.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her husband and her cat, Pickles. She also loves camping, hiking and doing puzzles. She regularly returns to Cleveland to spend time with her mom and her grandma. When able, she travels to Los Angeles to visit her sister and her niece and nephew.
