Your Kid's Dentist in Pittsburgh

Not all of us enjoy the thought of going to the dentist--some of us actually try to avoid it! But the earlier your child comes in for their first trip to the dentist is the earlier they are able to build a relationship of trust and positivity. As a father of four spirited daughters, our Pittsburgh dentist Dr. Mauro understands how important it is to take care of your child’s dental health in an environment that is warm, friendly and supportive. Not only is our team able to care for your child in the most formative years of their dental health, but we are also able to detect and treat small dental problems before they grow into a painful (or more expensive!) problem. After a visit with Dr. Mauro your child will love visits to the dentist and we’ll be excited to cheer them on at their next cavity-free visit!

Dr. Mauro's 2-2-2 Rule

Two-Two-Two for a 100% Smile

Rules aren’t fun for anyone--unless they’re coming from Dr. Mauro! His 2-2-2 rule means making a visit to the dentist 2 times a year and brushing and flossing 2 times a day for 2 minutes! Did you know that if you’re not flossing, you’re missing up to 35% of the surface of your teeth? With a flavored peppermint or bubblegum floss and a stylish electronic Sonicare Toothbrush your whole family can enjoy practicing the 2-2-2 rule for smiles our team will be happy to see!

Protecting Teeth with Sealants

Shield Your Molars from Cavities!

After a deep cleaning of your teeth, dental sealants can be applied to act as a strong defense against molar cavities. With proven success especially after a child’s first teeth erupt this thin plastic film can be applied to the chewing surface of molars of all ages for a strong protective base in preventing cavities.

But Our Family Dentist is Here to Help!

It only takes one toothbrush and one pair of hands to brush and floss every day but taking care of your child’s teeth involves a whole team of support! Growing up with a carefree smile full of positive dental visits and a confident set of teeth starts with the collaboration of our families with their dentist when they take part in their children’s dental health. With patient education, preventive tips and an encouraging team (both at your six month appointment and at home!) children learn how to feel excited and accomplished taking care of their dental health.

Your Child's First Dental Appointment

When Should I Take My Child In To The Dentist?

Every smile from your little ones is a gift of joy and wonder. But as childhood caries (cavities) become a growing problem in America many parents wonder when is the right time to bring their child to the dentist. The American Academy of Pediatrics reports that children should be brought to their first dental appointment shortly after the eruption of their first tooth, or between ages 6 months and 1 year. To schedule your child’s first adventure to the dentist give us a call at 412-364-1477 or make an appointment for your family!
