Meet the Doctors
Lawrence Mauro, DMD, FAGD
Dr. Lawrence Mauro was born and raised in the Pittsburgh area. Originally from Donora, PA, Dr. Mauro attended Washington and Jefferson College where he earned his B.A. in Biology in 1999. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, earning his D.M.D in 2003. Following Dental School, Dr. Mauro completed an optional General Practice Residency at the VA Pittsburgh Health Care, where he was mentored by some of the brightest and most talented General Dentists and Dental Specialists in the Pittsburgh area.
Dr. Mauro’s dental education did not end following his residency. He is a lifelong student of dentistry and a firm believer in Continuing Dental Education. He completes 80 to 100 hours of Continuing Dental Education annually, which is roughly four to five times the amount required to maintain licensure by the state of Pennsylvania. Dr. Mauro has been awarded the prestigious "Fellowship Award" with the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor less than 1% of dentists nationwide achieve.
While completing his residency, Dr. Mauro (Larry) married his beautiful and brilliant wife, Melissa. They were married in 2003 and have been blessed with four amazing daughters. After practicing and living in Vermont, Larry and Melissa decided it was best to move back home to Pittsburgh. They are very excited to raise their daughters in the North Hills with their grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins nearby in the Pittsburgh area.
Dr. Mauro’s goal at North Hills Family Dental is to provide his patients with optimal oral health care in a pleasurable and comforting environment. He believes that you shouldn’t have to sacrifice a caring patient-doctor relationship for state-of-the-art, top quality dental care—At North Hills Family Dental, you get both!

Family-Oriented Dental Care
At North Hills Family Dental, our goals and our emphasis are based on catering to you and your family. We will take every step imaginable to provide you and your family with the exceptional care to achieve your optimal oral health–you deserve it. Dr. Mauro and his staff take great pride and honor in developing relationships with patients and their families for generations to come.
Kid-Friendly Dental Care
North Hills Family Dental is proud to be a FAMILY-oriented dental practice. Children of all ages are always welcome. Did you know that the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends your child’s first dental visit should be within 6 months of eruption of their first tooth? For most children, the first tooth erups between the ages of 6 months and 1 year. Early childhood caries (cavities) is a growing problem in America, and detection is vital. It is important to remember that building a solid foundation for dental health starts at a very early age, and routine dental visits by children allow them to develop a relaxed and care-free attitude towards their dentist. The earlier a child starts that relationship, the more trustworthy they envision their dentist. Schedule an appointment today for your child and see how Dr. Mauro and his staff can start building that trusting relationship!
