Your first visit to North Hills Family Dental establishes a vital foundation for our relationship with you. During the first visit, we make sure to obtain important background information, like your medical history, and we make sure you have enough time to get to know Dr. Mauro. Your First Visit

When you arrive at North Hills Family Dental, our friendly and dedicated staff will go over your paperwork and discuss the reasons for your visit. Next, you will meet with Dr. Mauro and our dental hygienist. Dr. Mauro and our hygienist will examine your teeth, gums, and jaw, completing a comprehensive examination of your mouth. They will then take digital X-rays of your mouth and proceed with your dental cleaning. Dr. Mauro will also assess the integrity of your existing dental work, check your teeth for decay, and inspect your gums for signs of periodontal disease. He will also examine your bite for proper alignment and perform an oral cancer screening.

After your comprehensive exam and cleaning, Dr. Mauro and/or our hygienist will take pictures with an intraoral camera. They will display your images on the wall mounted HDTV. They will use these images to explain their findings and suggest any necessary therapies. After discussing your dental goals, Dr. Mauro will personalize a treatment plan for your unique oral needs. Upon exiting, our office staff will schedule your next visit for a time and date that works best with your schedule.

Flexible Financial Options

Dr. Mauro and the team at North Hills Family Dental want to make your dental treatment as financially convenient as possible for you. To help you financially, we accept all major credit cards, checks, and cash. We also accept most dental insurance plans and participate with most of the large carriers in the Pittsburgh area. North Hills Family Dental also offers CareCredit℠ financing for your convenience. With CareCredit, you can get approved for 6 month, 0% interest financing. And if you have larger treatment plans, you can finance your care for up to 60 months with competitive rates!

Additonally, we offer payment options through BHG Mastercard More and Denefits.

Also, new to North Hills Family Dental is our own Dental Benefits plan. You can receive two cleanings, two exams, and two X-rays per year, plus 20% off of other treatments! Our plans start as low as $249 per year.

North Hills Family Dental Policies

Our insurance department exists as a courtesy and convenience for our patients. The relationship is between you, the patient/subscriber and your insurance company. Our office will make every effort to determine your coverage and provide appropriate information as to maximize your insurance benefits. A payment may be necessary on the day of your appointment for services rendered. This payment is due the day service is provided, unless other payment arrangements have been made. The money paid will be applied to the co-payment/co-insurance required by your insurance company. This payment is only an estimate of benefits. Once the final payment is determined by your insurance company, adjustments may need to be completed. If a balance exists on your account after insurance payments are determined/received, you will be billed at that time.

Insurance companies are required to respond to a claim within thirty days. In the instance of overlapping coverages, response time may increase. Timing of insurance payments is beyond our control. Our office makes every attempt to control increases in medical costs. To that end, our accountants state that we must have payment for services rendered within eight weeks. Therefore, if we have not received payment from your insurance company within eight weeks, we must bill you for the service. To avoid this, it is advised that you contact your insurance provider if you have not been notified of payment within six weeks after your most recent visit to our office.

Once your appointment is scheduled at our office, we have reserved that time for you. If you must cancel your appointment we require twenty-four (24) hour notice so that we may have the ability to offer that time to another patient. Any appointment canceled with less than twenty-four hour notice is subject to a $50.00 fee for doctor scheduled time or a $25.00 fee for time scheduled with the hygienists. These fees are not covered by insurance and are an out of pocket expense to the patient.
